A damaged card kills your store rating. Follow these steps and your buyers will always receive their cards in the same condition they left you.

As soon as a sale is confirmed, slip the card into a penny sleeve. Never handle a card by its face — hold it by the edges. The sleeve prevents surface scratches during every subsequent step.
Double-sleeve valuable cards (over $20): penny sleeve first, then a perfect-fit inner sleeve before inserting into the top loader.
For singles under $50, use a standard 35pt top loader. For thicker cards (etched, alt-art, Pokemon EX/GX) use a 55pt or 75pt loader. For cards over $50, use a semi-rigid card saver — they're preferred by grading companies and create less edge stress.
Tape the top of the top loader with painter's tape (never regular tape — it can damage cards when removed). This prevents the card from sliding out during transit.
Slide the sealed top loader into a resealable team bag, or wrap tightly in a layer of saran wrap. This adds moisture protection and keeps the card snug if the top loader shifts.
Cut two pieces of cardboard slightly larger than the top loader (cereal box cardboard works great). Place the wrapped card between them and secure with rubber bands or tape. This prevents the package from bending in transit — the #1 cause of damaged cards.
The cardboard sandwich should be rigid enough that you can't easily bend it with your hands.
Use a padded bubble mailer at minimum. For multiple cards or valuable singles, use a small cardboard box with the card sandwich placed flat and any remaining space filled with bubble wrap or packing peanuts. The card should not be able to slide or shift inside.
Write "DO NOT BEND" and "FRAGILE" on the outside of the envelope.
If you purchased a MegaCardStore Shipping Pack, include the verification code slip inside the envelope before sealing. Buyers can enter this code on our site to confirm they received official, properly packed supplies — this builds trust and protects your store's reputation.
Always use a shipping method that includes tracking. USPS First Class Mail (under 1oz) is the most affordable for single cards. USPS Priority Mail for larger orders or valuable cards. Always keep the tracking number and enter it in your seller dashboard immediately.
Screenshot or photograph your packed envelope and the tracking receipt. If a buyer claims non-delivery, this evidence is critical.
| Carrier | Cost |
|---|---|
USPS First Class Mail Single cards under $20 | ~$0.68–$5 |
USPS Priority Mail Multiple cards or cards over $20 | ~$8–$15 |
USPS Ground Advantage Bulk lots under $100 | ~$5–$10 |

Prices are estimates and vary by weight and destination.
Shipping without tracking — no protection if package goes missing
Using regular tape on top loaders — can damage cards when opened
Skipping cardboard stiffeners in an envelope — cards bend in sorting machines
Not double-sleeving valuable cards — fingerprints transfer through thin sleeves
Sending foils without extra padding — foil cards warp easily from humidity
Using a plain white envelope with no padding — zero protection
Not taping the top loader shut — card slides around and corners get hit
Shipping cards over $100?
Add declared value / insurance at the counter. Photograph the card, the packed envelope, and your receipt before dropping it off. For cards over $500 consider registered mail or a courier with full insurance. Always require signature confirmation.
